Synopsis of Doppelgangland

The story opens as Anyanka (from THE WISH) is try to explain to the being /creature /demon /demigod (I don't know which this thing is) who gave her the amulet that she needs it back. This thing, whatever it is, is explaining that this amulet was a gift to the lower beings, meaning us, and through her on carelessness she lost it. She will live out her life as a mortal and die. She explains that she is bored and flunking math. She wants the creature to fold time and just get back her amulet. The creature says no and she leaves saying she will find a way to get the amulet back with out its help.
Cut to Buffy and Willow. We see finally Willow floating a pencil. She says it's all about emotional control and makes it rotate slowly. Buffy is doing sit-ups preparing for some training on an obstacle course with Wesley. She wants to do better than Faith. At the mention of Faith's name Willow starts to make sarcastic remarks and the pencil starts to rotate very fast and shoots off, imbedding itself in a tree( A future vampire fighting move for Willow perhaps? She may need it. The mayor is after her!)
Cut to Snyder's office. He is discussing with Willow and the school's star basketball player Percy West, about how she is going to tutor him. He makes it clear that she will make sure he passes(i.e. do his homework for him)
Willow is talking to Buffy about how Snyder this everyone's time is his. Buffy comments that she should kick his ass. Giles then asks Willow to try again to get into the Mayor's files. Faith and Wesley comes in Wesley is breathing hard from their workout. Faith is refreshed. Giles asks if Wesley wants him to take Buffy out to the course. Wesley says he can handle it. Faith asks Willow what is she doing. She tells her, without looking at her, that she is trying to hack into the mayor's files.
Next scene shows a brand new apartment that the mayor has for Faith. She tells the mayor about Willow. He says he can't have "his" slayer staying at a fleabag motel where immoral liaisons occur. Faith says plus all the screwing. She will keep the other place so that her friends don't know what's up. She is jumping up and down on the bed and the mayor, like most parents yells "Shoes!, Shoes!" She tells the mayor "Thanks, Sugar Daddy." The mayor says that was not amusing because he is a family man and he casually says to her "Let's kill your little friend", meaning Willow. Faith turns around looking shocked (I'm still hoping she is tricking the mayor). The mayor says he doesn't want her to do it. He won't ask her to kill so early in the relationship. He says a vampire attack would look less suspicious. He shows her the rest of the apartment and tells her she has a playstation. Faith is very happy.
At school, Willow sees Oz and they hug. She missed him at school the day before. He says they had a gig in Monterey and they got back late. She didn't know about the gig. (Was Oz with someone else?). She says she might have wanted to go. He says he figured she didn't want to miss school. She jumps to the conclusion that he thinks she is boring. He tells her about playing at the bronze and she says she has to study.
Willow next runs into Percy the jock. She is trying to set up a study time and what books he will need. He says she has to type the assignment and put his name on it. Willow is depressed. She is going to do something wild and crazy. She is going to eat her banana even though it is not lunchtime. At that moment, Buffy and Xander walk up and ask if she taped a TV program for them. She did and Buffy calls her old reliable. This sets her off on a rant and Xander makes thing s worse by referring to Old Faithful and Old Yeller. She goes off to do her own thing.
Willow runs into Anya and she starts asking Willow for help. Willow first thought she wanted help with schoolwork but Anya says that she was told Willow was the one to come to for help in casting a spell for a temporal fold. Willow asks if the spell was dangerous and Anya says no. Willow says lets pretend it's dangerous and agrees to help.
She says she needs to get back a stolen necklace, which was a family heirloom. During their talk about the spell the last thing they had to do was sprinkle sacred sand on a drawing of the necklace to get it back. They cast the spell together holding hands. We see the alternate universe during the final fight sequence. We see Evil Xander die. We see Giles destroy the amulet. These flashes are frightening Willow. We then see the Evil Willow disappear before she is staked as the sand is pouring through their hands. The spell is over. This is a darker spell than she had expected. Anya is looking for the amulet. It is not there. Anya wants to try again but Willow is having none of it. Willow leaves. The Evil Willow appears in the abandoned factory outside of town. The spell brought her and not the amulet.
EW (Evil Willow) is walking through the city and seeing all the people out at night. The city is very strange to her. She goes to the Bronze. The band is playing and people are generally having a good time. She knows this is not her world. Percy sees her and starts telling her to go do his homework. EW knocks him across a pool table, walks around it and grabs him by the throat. Percy grabs her by the neck as her is struggling. Xander walks in and sees this. He jumps on Percy and breaks the hold EW has on him. He marvels at EW. Buffy walks in and they both are trying to talk to her as if she was the real Willow. She recognizes them both from her reality but is sad because thinks are not the same. She is about to leave when Buffy grabs her by the arm. She spins around in vamp mode shocking both Buffy and Xander. Buffy lets her go.
EW is walking from the Bronze. A voice calls out, "Willow Rosenburg." EW answers yes and two vamps attack her. She is very good in a fight and kicks the crap out of the two vamps. She has one down and has his arm and hand. He says it was a mistake. They were supposed to kill a human. She is cranky. She asks," Who do you work for?" When he says he won't tell, she breaks a finger. He says he works for the mayor. She asks again, Who do you work for?" He says the mayor again. She breaks another finger. He says I work for you. EW tells them to get their friends. They are going to make the world the way it was.
Buffy and Xander come to the library to tell Giles that Willow is a vampire. They are all blaming themselves for letting this happen. Willow walks in. Xander tries to ward her off with a cross. Buffy realizes that this is the real Willow and hugs her. Xander hugs her at the same time. Willow can't breath. They let her go and in a moment of unrestraint, Giles hugs her but catches himself and lets her go. Willow asks if they are all on drugs. Buffy tells her that they saw a vampire that was Willow. Buffy asks Giles to explain this. He can only say some strange is going on. Xander remarks " And the watchers council let this guy go?"
Anya is at the bronze frustrated that she didn't get her amulet. She wants a beer but is carded by the bartender. She says she's 1120 years old. The barkeep wants id and she settles for a coke. Angel shows up and asks Oz if he has seen Buffy. At that moment, EW and her vamp gang comes in and takes over. When Oz sees EW he tells Angel to go. Angel climbs up a rope to a skylight and goes for help. EW picks a girl named Sandy from the crowd and feeds on her. Oz tells EW she doesn't want to do this. EW recognizes him as a white hat from her reality and asks how come he is talking to her like they are friends. Anya tells EW that he thinks she is someone else. Anya tells EW about Willow and that she could send her back to her own reality.
Back at the library, Angel tells the gang that Willow is dead and then says hi to Willow. A bit confused, they tell him about the other Willow. They go to fight the baddies as Giles says he doesn't want Faith around civilians. Willow is a bit apprehensive about killing EW. As they are leaving. She goes back to get her something when EW grabs her.
Very sexy scenes as the two Willows banter back and forth. EW licks Willow's neck. (How did they do that?) Willow grabs a cross and tries to ward her off. She knocks it out of her hand and pushes her over the counter. Willow grabs the dart gun and darts EW. She calls her a bitch and passes out. EW is locked in the cage. Willow remarks how she is so unlike her. Buffy says the vampire is nothing like the person whom the demon takes over. Angel is about to say that isn't true but decides to go with Buffy's statement. (Willow a closet Dominatrix?) The gang forms a plan to switch Willows to save the people at the Bronze. Willow is in EW garb and remarks that the pushup gives her boobs. The vamps are waiting for EW to get back before feeding. Willow goes in and hits to Oz that it's her. She sends out two vamps to check on noises and the gang dusts the vamps. Anya asks where is Willow. Willow says she killed her and drank her blood because she bothered me.
Back at the library EW wakes as a lovely Cordy walks in looking for a book. She sees EW in Willows clothes and thinks she accidentally locked herself in the cage (DUH!) She asks Cordy to let her out. She is about to but decides to have girl talk about stealing her boyfriend while she is behind bars. Meanwhile back at the Bronze Anya catches on to Willow's scheme and tells the vamps to get her.
Meanwhile back at the library, Cordy notices that EW is watching her neck (and a lovely neck it is) and Cordy thinks she is getting a zit. She finally lets EW out of the cage and EW says she will pay her back by having her for dinner, vamps and chases Cordy through the school. Wesley is returning from somewhere and hears Cordy screaming. EW corners her in the restroom. EW is about when Wesley backs her off with a cross. EW still wants CORDY. Wesley pulls out holy water and EW backs away. Cordy jumps in to Wesley's waiting arms and thanks him for saving her. (LUCKY BASTARD!!!) Wesley finally did something right. Cordy asks what's he doing that night.
At the Bronze, Anya has convinced the other vamps that Willow is a fake. They are about to attack when Willow screams, the signal she needs help. Buffy and Angel comes in and starts some major ass kicking as Xander and Giles covered the back. EW has returned to the Bronze where she see Oz and Willow getting out of harms way. She knocks aside Oz and attacks Willow. Buffy dusts a few vamps and sees EW choking Willow and goes to help. She dusts a vamp with a pool cue and is about to dust EW when willow tells her no. Buffy pulls EW off of Willow.
The gang with, Anyanka, decide to send EW back to her own reality. They start the spell as Anyanka vows to get her powers back. EW is sent right back to the time before she got impaled on the wood sticking out from the wall. She gets staked again and as she dusts I swear I think she mouthed the words "OH FUCK!" Just my thoughts on that one.
At school the next day Buffy asks Willow if she wants to go to the Bronze that night. Willow says she has schoolwork to do. Percy walks up and hands her reports and bibliographies and asks her to just look them over for him. EW scared the shit out of him. Buffy asks Willow again if she wants to go out. She says yes.
The End
A good episode but I'm going to hate seeing Wesley and Cordy together in the future. Also, since a hit is out on Willow, I hope Faith saves her. This way we will know that she is not truly all the way to the dark side.
Using floating pencils as a vamp-killing weapon sounds like a good idea to me.
