Synopsis of The I in Team
Giles goes to Spike's crypt and pays him the money he owes him for helping Giles when Giles was a demon. Spike eagerly counts the money, and says that now he wants nothing more to do with you good guys.
Buffy gets inducted into the Initiative. She proves herself to Professor Walsh after evading her men for 43 minutes and then taking them down in 23 seconds. Professor Walsh gives her the grand tour of the facility, a beeper, and a security card. She never really seems to warm up to Buffy, however, no matter how much Riley assures Buffy the Professor Walsh likes her.
Meanwhile, Willow is feeling alone with Buffy all wrapped up in Riley and the Initiative, and Xander toting a sour Anya everywhere with him. The gang plans a night to go back to the Bronze together, but when Buffy brings a bunch of guys from the Initiative with her, and then they all get quickly called away on a mission, Willow turns to Tara for magic and companionship.
The mission is to hunt down a demon that shoot spikes out of its arms for defense. The commandos, including Buffy, are told to be carefuly not to damage the demon's arms, because that's what the Initiative wants to study. While out hunting this demon, some of the guys spot Spike. Although they're not able to capture him, they do shoot him with a tracking device. Buffy and Riley take down the demon that they're hunting, and then fall into bed for a passionate night. Professor Walsh watches them on one of her monitors. (Ewwww....)
The next morning, Buffy and Willow return to their dorm room and notice that neither of their beds have been slept in.
Spike comes to Giles's house complaining that the commandos are after him, and begging for help. He gives Giles back what's left of the money that Giles gave him, and Giles, with help from Xander and Anya, starts to remove the tracking device. He also gets Willow to come over and cast a spell that ionizes the atmosphere around them (giving them all very funny static hair) so that it messes up the signal from the tracking device. Riley and his pals are in the neighborhood, but can't quite figure out which house the signal's coming from. Willow's spell wears off just as Giles gets the tracking device out of Spike's back, and Xander flushes it.
Meanwhile, Professor Walsh keeps checking in on room 314, where it turns out there's this sort of Frankenstein monster made up of all these different demon parts, including the spike-shooting arms of the demon captured last night. Professor Walsh has decided that Buffy is a liability... asking questions about 314, making Riley think of something other that the Intiative... and maybe Professor Walsh is a little jealous, and wants to keep Riley to herself. Anyway, she decides to dispose of Buffy. While Riley is hunting Spike, Professor Walsh calls in Buffy and sends on a simple recon mission. She gives her a weapon, but says it's probably nothing... might even be a raccoon. But please check it out. Buffy finds herself ambushed in the sewers with a faulty weapon and two nasty demons with axe-like weapons. Buffy has a camera attached to her head, and through that Professor Walsh is monitoring what she sees and her heart rate. When the camera falls off, Professor Walsh thinks that Buffy is dead. Riley returns from the unsuccessful Spike-hunt, and Walsh tells him that Buffy is dead, that she insisted on going after these two escaped demons even though Walsh told her to wait for backup, and now she's dead. Meanwhile, Buffy has finished killing the two demons, and picks up the camer, telling Professor Walsh that she knows it was an ambush, and it wasn't a raccoon. Riley sees this, realizes that Walsh lied to him, and stomps off.
Buffy goes to Giles's house and tells everyone still gathered there that no one is safe while the Initiative is still around.
Professor Walsh is pissed, and is in room 314 still plotting how to get rid of Buffy. Her Frankenstein monster, named Adam, kills her with one of his spiky arms, saying "Mommy" as she falls to the ground.
