Synopsis of Superstar
Written by Sharon
Buffy and the gang are out slaying a bunch of vampires but when it becomes too much for them to handle, they go get Jonathan for help. At Giles' house Jonathon checks out their stash of weapons and practices with Buffy. Willow uses her computer to try to find a way to attack the vampires. Jonathon quickly comes up with a better way, impressing Willow, then hands out weapons and tells everyone what to do. Back in the graveyard, Jonathan kills most of the bamps, leaving Buffy to feel less than a slayer.
After leaving the graveyard, some people show up to take pictures of Jonathan as he poses. Spike is seen in the shadows by Jonathon and they have a bit of word sparring. Buffy has a lack of puns, but Jonathan makes short order of cutting Spike's confidence down.
Willow and Tara talk about the fight in the graveyard and Buffy and Riley's relationship while putting up pictures of Jonathan on the wall.
Back at Riley's dorm room, Buffy tries to play basketball with him. She is too uncomfortable about what happened with Faith to let Riley get close to her.
The next day Buffy talks to Jonathan about her problems with Riley. Jonathan tries to help Buffy forgive Riley. Deep down her expectations of him were just too high. How was he supposed to realize that she wasn't really she? The lunch date is interrupted by an over-eager fan, Karen, who wants him to sign her book.
At the Initiative, Colonel George Haviland is in charge now, but Jonathan takes over the plans to find and destroy Adam.
Karen spys on Jonathan's house and is attacked by a really yucky demon and barely manages to run away.
In the meantime, Jonathan talks to Riley about his relationship with Buffy and explains to him that Buffy is feeling insecure sexually because she knows that Faith is more experienced than her. After their talk, Jonathan shoots an apple over the Initiative operatives where they stand blindfolded.
At the Bronze, Jonathan is singing to a jazz band. Riley and Buffy are dancing and Anya and Xander leave to go have sex. While dancing, Buffy realizes that she forgives him and tells him so. She also wants to move on with their relationship. The band is interrupted when Karen shows up at the Bronze and Jonathan comes down to find out what's wrong. They go back to Jonathan's house where Karen describes the demons appearence, including the symbol on his head. Jonathan acts weird but covers it up and explains he'll patrol for the demon.
At Adam's sanctuary, he realizes right away that there's some sort of spell that's not real going on with the world. He says it's weak and not going to last for long.
Back at Jonathan's house, he looks into the fire thinking deeply about something. Two twin blond girls call him to come to bed. He drops his robe, revealing the same symbol on his shoulder that Karen saw on the demon's forehead. Then he goes upstairs.
Tara goes to her dorm room, on the way the demon attacks her. She chants a spell, mangaing to escape with her life before she runs into a broom closet and locks the door. She freaks out as the demon tries to get to her.
The next morning Willow finds Tara and Tara tells Buffy about the demon. Buffy is lead to question Jonathon, so she goes to Xander's to find out what she can about Jonathan. Xander's not there but Anya has plenty of things to tell her. Buffy calls a meeting and explains everything she's learned about Jonathan and she thinks something's wrong. Riley isn't sure what to believe but he sides with Buffy. Buffy remembers something from the swimsuit calendar, so they look through it and Buffy sees the mark on Jonathan's shoulder--right when Jonathan shows up. He explains he has a history with the monster and every time he faces it he gets really confused.
Buffy and Jonathan go look for the demon and run into Spike. Spike doesn't tell Jonathan anything, but Buffy finds Spike's weakness and gets him to talk. So they go off to the cave.
Meanwhile, Willow discovers that Jonathan performed an augmentation spell that would make him everyone's target for adoration. The thing is, a demon is created that is everyone's worst nightmare. If the demon is destroyed, the spell will be reversed.
In the cave, Jonathan and Buffy walk up to a pit. He takes hold of her hand and tells her not to get so close to it. The demon shows up an Jonathan let's Buffy fight it. Her skills improve greatly as the fight goes o. Then Jonathan pushes the demon into the pit and Buffy saves Jonathan's life.
After the demon is thrown into the pit, everything goes back to normal. The gang talks about how it made them feel. Buffy sees Jonathan and goes to talk to him. He explains that he met this guy in therapy who had done the spell before. So he decided to do it. But he couldn't handle the demon as well as the other guy did.
Later that night Buffy and Riley are finally getting close again when she moans "Jonathan."
