Xander comes over and tells Spike to get out of his seat. Buffy and Willow talk about the headaches she's still getting. Tara tells Willow she really shouldn't be doing anymore teleportation spells. Willow says that they need a better arsenal of weapons to fight Glory. Buffy sees Ben and goes to thank him for taking care of her sister. Spike watches them from across the bar while Xander yells at Spike for stealing his change.

Sunnydale train station
A train pulls up. The station master walks up to see if anyone is getting off. There is silence from the train. The station master walks inside and sees a car full of dead people covered in blood. Then he sees what killed them. He tries to run, but it catches him.

Buffy's house
Buffy gets home to Joyce, Giles and Willow. She confers with Giles and he tells her to stop going easy on Dawn. Dawn is doing well, and the best thing for her is to be treated normally. Buffy yells at Dawn for borrowing her blue cashmere sweater without asking. Dawn denies taking it.

Spike's lair
Spike is fondling Buffy's blue cashmere sweater. Harmony comes and invites him to bed but he's not in the mood. She suggests maybe they play a little game. She plays Buffy, wearing the blue sweater, and pretending to be hunting Spike and trying to stake him. Spike jumps Harmony and she's surprised by how hot he is.

College
Willow and Tara are talking about Quasimodo on which they have a test coming up. Tara says how Quasimodo has no real moral compass, he just does everything for this woman that he loves and he has no hope of her ever loving him back. Buffy hasn't really studied. Buffy grabs a newspaper away from another student when she sees the headline about six dead people found on a train. The description sounds like it was vampires.

Spike's lair
Dawn comes over to hang out with Spike after school. He tells her to go home but she won't. She like the fact that he talks to her like a normal person. She says that she feels safe with him. She tells him that Buffy is scared of if Spike ever gets his chip out. Spike asks what else Buffy says.

Buffy's house
Buffy comes home. Joyce says that Dawn never got home from school. Joyce mentions the train massacre she heard about on the news. Buffy assures her it was vampires, not Glory, and has nothing to do with Dawn. Buffy goes out to look for Dawn.

Spike's lair
Spike is telling Dawn a story about when he killed an entire family. She's fascinated. Buffy bursts in asking Spike for help finding Dawn and is surprised to find Dawn right there. Dawn begs Buffy to let Spike finish the fascinating story. Buffy tells Spike to go ahead and finish. Spike gives the story of massacre a nice fuzzy ending and then assures Buffy that he was going to bring Dawn home soon.

Cemetary
Buffy is walking Dawn home. Buffy realizes that Dawn has a crush on Spike and tells her little sister that that's gross and wrong and icky. Dawn likens it to Buffy's relationship with Angel. Dawn says it's no big deal anyway, 'cause Spike is totally in love with Buffy. Buffy is shocked.

Train station
Buffy and Xander are looking in the train car for clues as to if it was vampires and how many. Buffy, with difficulty, brings up the Spike thing. Xander laughs until Buffy mentions Dawn's crush on Spike. Xander is upset that Dawn doesn't have a crush on him anymore. They miss seeing a lacy doll with a ribbon ties over its eyes in a luggage compartment.

Buffy's house
When Buffy gets home Spike is there having a friendly conversation with Joyce and Dawn. He pulls Buffy aside and tells her that he might have a lead on the vamps that pulled the train heist. Buffy says she doesn't have any money and Spike should go hit on... I mean, hit up Giles. Spike says he doesn't need money. Buffy is weirded out and Spike asks her what's the matter. She says it's nothing.

Spike's car in an alley
Spike and Buffy are staking out the warehouse where Spike says the vamps are. When Spike reaches for his flask in the glove compartment Buffy jumps. She's then grossed out when he offers her a sip from the flask. She is in the process of asking Spike why he's doing this for no money when the vamps get there. She and Spike into the warehouse where the vamps are popping popcorn and listening to CDs. They take one look at Buffy and run. Buffy looks around the vamps' living room and says that they've obviously been here for awhile, so they're not the vamps that just came into town on the train and Spike has wasted her time. She asks Spike if this was supposed to be some kind of date. Spike admits his feelings and tries to get her to admit them back. She's grossed-out, tells Spike there can never be anything between them, and stomps out of the warehouse.

Spike's lair
Spike gets home and is depressed. Drusilla is there to cheer him up. She tells him about L.A. and shows him the scars from being set on fire by Angel. She invites him to come to L.A. with her and he says that he's doing just fine in Sunnydale. She knows he's lying and tells him that the chip is really just all in his head. Harmony gets home and yells at Drusilla saying Spike doesn't want her anymore. Spike throws Harmony across the room and tells her to hit the road, he's back.

Buffy's house
Buffy is talking to Willow and Joyce about Spike. Willow and Joyce are worried that Spike could get violent, but Buffy assures them there's no need. They worry that she didn't properly convey to Spike that he has no chance with her and suggest that Buffy go talk to Spike and make sure that he knows that.

The Bronze
Spike and Dru come in, start dancing with each other, and then spot a couple making out alone on the balcony.

Buffy's house
Buffy prepares to go talk to Spike.

The Bronze
Dru and Spike sneak up on the couple, and Dru quickly snaps their necks, throwing the girl to Spike and biting the boy herself. Spike hesitates, then vamps out and bites the girl and sucks.

Spike's lair
Buffy comes in looking for Spike. She explores downstairs a bit when she can't find him and discovers a shrine to herself. She is grossed out and ready to leave when Spike and Drusilla get there. Drusilla uses an electric wand to shock Buffy into unconsciousness and she and Spike get ready to eat Buffy. Then Spike takes the wand and shocks Drusilla.

Spike's lair
Buffy and Dru wake up. Buffy is chained up and Dru is tied up. Spike tells Buffy that he loves her, and to prove it, he's going to kill Drusilla. Buffy says that doesn't prove anything. Spike says if Buffy doesn't give him at least a shred of hope, he'll untie Drusilla and let Dru kill Buffy. Buffy verbally spits in his face. He rants and raves about the problems of women, until Harmony comes in and tries to kick his ass. While Spike is distracted by Harmony, both Buffy and Dru try to get free, but only Dru is successful. Dru attacks Buffy and Buffy fights back as best she can with only her legs. Spike finally triumphs over Harmony and throws Dru away from Buffy. He unchains Buffy. Dru says that Spike is lost and she can't help him and she leaves. Harmony says Spike can kiss her ass goodbye and leaves. Buffy punches Spike in the face so hard that he goes flying into the shrine he made for her and destroys it. Buffy leaves.

The street
Spike chases Buffy down the street. Buffy tells him to stay away from her, her friends and her family. Spike says that she can't shut him out, they have something real even if it's not pretty. Buffy walks into her house and when Spike gets to the door he hits the vampire barrier where he can't walk in without an invitation. He looks at her pleadingly and she closes the door in his face. (No, I don't understand how he could have been invited in earlier that day by Joyce and then not been able to come in now, unless after Buffy told Willow about Spike being in love with her, Willow did that spell that uninvites vampires.)
