Written by TK
Tara's room
Willow and Tara are getting ready for bed. Willow asks Tara to tell her a story. Tara tells her a story about their cat. Willow says she's sleepy. Tara says she's going to keep the light on for awhile to read some spells. Willow comments that Tara's been doing a lot of spell studying lately. Tara says she just wants to keep up with Willow and be helpful to the Scoobies. Tara decides to just join Willow in bed and they snuggle up together and go to sleep.
The Summers' living room
Buffy tells Giles about how Dawn is the key and the really strong blonde female demon that was so hard to fight. They decide not to tell anyone else and just to protect Dawn as best they can and hunt down this really strong blonde demon.
The factory
The blonde demon (Glory) emerges from the rubble that Buffy left her in and declares that now she's upset.
Buffy's dorm room
Everyone is helping to move Buffy out of her dorm room. Anya is bitching that they just moved in her in a few days ago. Her excuse is that her mother is sick, but from the way she is over-protective about Dawn it's obvious it's more than that. Willow reminds everyone that they're meeting at the Bronze tomorrow night to celebrate Tara's birthday party.
Hospital
Just as Ben is getting off work another crazy woman is wheeled into the hospital. Just like the other four that month, she has no history of mental illness. Ben is frustrated by the trend, but happy that he's getting off work. As he gets out of his scrubs in his locker room, an ugly white-skinned demon with long hair, open sores and a strong pointy tongue starts sneaking up on him. Glory sneaks up behind the white-skinned demon and kidnaps it, saying she needs its help.
Magic shop
Anya is excited to have a job and have a place in the world. Buffy and Xander come over to help research this strong blonde demon. They end up talking about the difficulty of getting Tara a birthday present and how they don't really know her that well.
Spike's tomb
Spike and Buffy are fighting in a very well-choreographed sexy manner. It turns out to be Spikes fantasy as he's having sex with Harmony.
Magic shop
Buffy and Xander are still debating presents for Tara. An annoying guy comes in and starts joking around about magic and turning people into toads. Willow and Tara walk in and the guy greets Tara. It turns out he's her brother, Donny, and he's closely followed by her father and her cousin Beth. Tara is obviously not pleased to see them, and doesn't really introduce anyone more than "these are my friends." Tara's father, Mr. Maclay, says that he'll come to her dorm room to pick her up for a birthday dinner.
Summers house
Buffy comes home and Riley is there, saying he finished unpacking her stuff. She is very grateful. Dawn is on her way out to have dinner at a friend's house and Buffy won't let her, being ridiculously over-protective. Buffy's strange behavior makes Riley suspicious, and when she insists nothing's wrong and he knows that something really is wrong, he feels rebuffed by her and leaves.
Tara's dorm room
Tara comes in and her father is there waiting for her. He comments on all the witchy stuff around her room, and says he was hoping she'd given that stuff up. He reminds her that she's turning twenty, and asks her if her friends know about her. She lies that they do. He says she has to come home because there is evil inside of her. She says it doesn't feel evil. He says he doesn't really want to have dinner, but he'll be by to pick her up and take her home in the morning before her friends see her true face.
Glory's lair
Glory is ranting to the demon she kidnapped about this really strong short blonde girl. The demon explains that that's the slayer. Glory is horrified that she was fighting a slayer. Glory asks the demon to get together some friends and kill the slayer. The demon agrees.
Tara's dorm room
Willow comes in and says that the Scooby gang is pow-wowwing at the Magic Shop and asks Tara to come along. Willow suggests that they could try that spell again that finds demons. Tara points out that it didn't work last time. Willow says it's worth trying again. Tara says she's distracted with her family around and she can't come, but Willow can fill her in later. She's actually a bit rude to Willow.
Magic shop
Willow shows up and the whole gang is there, including Dawn. They sit down to talk about this really strong blonde demon. Meanwhile, Tara spies on them, says a spell that puts a curse on them, and blows a red powder which affects everyone in the gang.
Demon bar
Riley is drinking heavily at the demon bar where Willy normally works, except there's a different bartender. A beautiful female vampire tries to pick him up but he doesn't fall for it.
Spike's tomb
Harmony comes back from shopping and tells Spike that the Lei-ach demon has been recruited by some big-wig to kill Buffy. Spike takes off because he wants to watch Buffy die.
Campus
Tara runs into her cousin Beth walking across campus. Beth is at first very nice, until Tara tells her she doesn't want to go home with the family. Beth guesses that Tara cast a spell on her friends so that they wouldn't see her for what she really is, a demon. Tara protests, but Beth says she's going to tell Tara's dad.
Magic shop
Buffy is exercising in the back room. There is a knock at the door. Willow opens it and there are two of those awful white-skinned demons standing out side. Willow looks around, doesn't see anything, and closes the door.
Campus
Tara is still begging Beth not to go to her father. Beth tells Tara that she is out of control, putting curses on her friends. Beth tells Tara she should go to her friends, tell them the truth, and then come home with the family.
Magic shop
The white-skinned demons are everywhere in the magic shop, but no one can see them. They attack Buffy in the back room, and she fights them as best she can while yelling out to everyone in the front room. The rest of the gang in the front room is attacked by the demons they can't see as well. Giles makes Dawn hide under a desk. Spike comes running into the back room to gloat over Buffy getting her ass kicked, but then can't stand it and goes after the demons himself (he can see them). Buffy can't even see Spike helping. Buffy runs out into the front room to help the others, and Tara walks in the front door just in time to see a demon sneaking up behind Buffy. She yells out, and when Buffy realizes Tara can see the demons she asks Tara for her help. Tara quickly realizes what's going on and lifts the curse. Buffy quickly kicks some demon butt. Tara's family walks in just in time to see Buffy break the neck of the last demon. Tara explains to everyone about the curse and apologizes, saying she was just trying to hide. Her father says that the women in his family are all part demon, and insists that Tara come home so they can care for her. Willow asks Tara if that's what she really wants, and Tara shakes her head. Buffy tells Tara's dad that if he wants to take his daughter by force, he has to go through her first. Dawn stands strong next to Buffy. Giles backs them up. Xander says he'll defend Tara too. Spike reminds everyone that he doesn't care what happens to Tara. Tara's dad can't believe it. Buffy says that they're Tara's family now. Anya pipes up to ask what kind of demon Tara is, 'cause not all demons are pure evil, some can be contributing members of society. Tara's father says it doesn't matter what kind. Everyone is shocked when Spike walks up and hits Tara in the nose. Tara's nose hurts, but what's better is that Spike's head hurts, meaning that Tara isn't really demon. It turns out that the whole demon thing was just something the men in Tara's family lied about to keep their women in control.
The Bronze
Tara's party is in full swing and everyone is having a good time. Riley shows up and Buffy is happy to see him. Tara and Willow dance and reaffirm their love for each other. They hold each other close on the dance floor and end up levitating.
