Synopsis of Once More, With Feeling

Written by TK

While on patrol, Buffy, and the vampires she's hunting, burst into song. Buffy admits that lately she just feels like she's going through the motions. The next morning the gang compares notes, and they realize that all of Sunnydale has been bursting into song, and admitting their innermost thoughts while doing so. Tara sings about how she's under Willow's spell. A demon watches while a man tap-dances himself to death, eventually bursting into flame. Anya and Xander share a duet about how they love each other, but they both worry about being married. Spike sings to Buffy that she should just let him rest in peace and stop torturing him. Dawn tells Tara that she's glad that Tara and Willow aren't fighting anymore. Tara doesn't understand. Dawn goes through some things she stole from the magic box and puts on a pretty necklace. Dawn is kidnapped by large-headed demon henchmen. Dawn wakes up in the Bronze and meets a singing and dancing demon who sings that Dawn summoned him and now he's going to take her down to hell to be his bride. Dawn threatens him that her sister is the Slayer. The demon, intrigued, sends his henchman out to find the Slayer. Giles is helping Buffy train and sings that he feels like Buffy leans on him too much and he's standing in the way of her growing up and taking care of herself. Tara goes to the magic shoppe and looks up the use for a flower she found in her bed. She realizes that Willow put a forgetting spell on her. Giles and Tara sing their sadness together to Buffy and Willow respectively. Spike brings a demon henchman to Buffy who tells the Slayer that his master has her little sister. Giles recommends that Buffy take care of this one on her own, and the Scoobies all think he's crazy. Spike offers to help, but Buffy reminds him that he told her to keep away. He tells her to go deal with the demon herself, then. Buffy heads to the Bronze herself. Spike rethinks his decision, and even though he sort of wants to kill her, he heads to the Bronze to help her. Giles rethinks his decision and takes the Scoobies to the bronze to help Buffy. Everyone arrives just in time to see Buffy singing to the demon and Dawn about how she isn't actually happy to be back, and her friends ripped her from heaven, not hell. Buffy goes into a big dance solo, and is about to burst into flame when Spike grabs her and sings to her, encouraging her to keep on living. Dawn swears she didn't summon the demon. The demon shows everyone that Dawn is wearing his necklace. Dawn says she found it on the floor at the magic shoppe. Xander admits that he used it to summon the demon to cast a sort of truth spell because he was scared about him and Anya. Since Dawn didn't summon him, and the demon doesn't want Xander as his queen, the demon leaves. The Scoobies sing a last big number, wondering where they go from here now that they've all admitted these deep inner feelings. Spike and Buffy share a passionate kiss in the alley outside the Bronze.
