Synopsis of Conversations with Dead People
Written by TK
Willow dozes off at the library and wakes to find Cassie (yes, she's dead) there. Cassie says that she's seen Tara, and delivers a loving message to Willow from her dead lover. As they continue to converse, Cassie warns Willow that she and Tara have seen Willow's path, and she is destined to kill everyone. Cassie advises Willow to commit suicide to prevent this disaster, and so she can see Tara again. Willow realizes Cassie is something evil, and asks her what she is. Cassie says she's going to make Willow and her friends suffer, that she doesn't care about the balance of good and evil anymore and the gloves are coming off. Then Cassie disappears in a gruesome display of turning inside-out.
Dawn is home alone when she hears thumping and the electrical appliances start fritzing out. She thinks she hears her mother's voice coming from a radio. She tries to communicate with the thumping ghost, and finds out that her mother is there, but she's not alone. Her mother's ghost is being prevented from talking to Dawn by some kind of demon. Dawn uses a spell to cast out the demon, nearly destroying the Summers home in the process. Joyce can finally talk to her daughter, and gives her the dire warning that bad things are coming, and when the worst arrives, Buffy won't be there for Dawn... Buffy won't choose Dawn. Dawn is horrified at the mystic message and then her mother disappears with no further explanation.
Jonathan and Andrew come back into town, having heard dire warnings of something called an Evil Danthazar. They decide that if they can find the Evil Danthazar and warn Buffy about it, maybe they'll become heroes and be allowed to be good guys and hang out with Buffy's gang. They go to the high school, and it becomes clear that Andrew has another agenda. Andrew has been speaking to Warren (yes, he's dead) and is plotting with his dead friend to use Jonathan to do something evil. With guidance from Warren, Jonathan and Andrew find a room in the basement of Sunnydale High that has a dirt floor. They dig down and uncover a large engraved metal seal. Andrew then ambushes Jonathan and knifes him in the abdomen. Jonathan falls, bleeding, on top of the metal seal.
Buffy starts fighting with a rising vampire in the cemetary, when the vampire suddenly steps back, recognizing his old classmate from high school. It turns out he was a psychology major at Dartmouth before he died, and although he and Buffy are sworn enemies, he ends up psychoanalyzing her. She opens up to him, telling him about her feelings of both superiority and inferiority, her parents' divorce, and her messed up relationships with men. Just before she kills the newly born vampire, she finds out that he was sired by Spike.
Spike is morosely drinking at a club. A pretty blonde woman sits down with him. Spike ends up walking her home. They hang out in front of her apartment for a moment, chatting. She seems to invite him in, but he hesitates. Spike bites the woman's neck, and she doesn't seem to fight him off.
