Synopsis of Sleeper

A man walks into a house in England calling for Nora (his wife?). He finds Nora lying on the floor, bleeding and dead. He attacked by a robed figure.
Willow comes home to the Summers house and finds Dawn in the wreckage of the living room. Dawn tells Willow that she spoke to her mother. Willow tells Dawn it probably wasn't her mother, because Willow was visited by a ghost as well who turned out to be something evil that told lies. Dawn tells Willow how her mother fought to speak to her, and warned her that something bad was coming, which sounded like a real warning. Dawn doesn't mention how her mother told her that Buffy wouldn't be there for her. Willow still thinks they were both visited by something evil trying to trick them.
While whistling a happy tune, Spike buries the blonde he bit last night.
Buffy goes to talk to Xander about what she learned about Spike siring a vampire. Spike comes in while they're talking. Buffy tells him about killing a vampire last night that she knew. She mentions the vampire by name and Spike doesn't seem to recognize it. Spike goes to bed. Buffy goes to check on Dawn, telling Xander that someone needs to keep an eye on Spike. Xander gets Anya to keep an eye on Spike while he goes to work.
Buffy gets home and talks to Willow who just got Dawn to bed. Willow tells Buffy about ghosts trying to trick them, and Buffy hopes that the vampire she met last night was actually just trying to trick her, and wasn't actually sired by Spike.
Anya decides to search Spike's room while he's sleeping, to see if she can find any evidence that he's killing again. When he wakes up and busts her, she pretends that she's there to seduce him, but the now soulful Spike turns her down. Spike leaves. Anya calls Buffy to tell her that Spike left.
Buffy follows Spike to a crowded area of town and watches him pick up a cute girl and take her into an alley. A street musician is playing a happy tune. Spike is just making out with the girl when "Buffy" walks up to him and tells him she wants him to bite the girl. Spike bites the girl and then runs away. "Buffy" turns into "Spike" and laughs.
Back at Xander and Spike's place, Buffy confronts Spike, saying she saw him go off with the girl, but then lost him. She asks him what happened. Spike says he was just talking to the girl, and then... he doesn't remember. Spike thinks Buffy might be jealous. He assures her he still only has eyes for her.
Buffy, back at home with Willow and Dawn, tries to do some research to figure out if Spike is really attacking people again. Willow discovers online that there have been a lot of missing persons lately, most of them young women.
Spike starts having flashes of memory and goes to the club where he met the blonde the night before. He asks around about her, but no one can give him any info. He goes and sits on the balcony to keep an eye out for her when he's approached by another woman. The woman turns out to be a vampire that he sired earlier that week, and she wants to go have some vampire fun with him. Spike is horrified, fights with her, and stakes her.
Buffy comes to the club looking for Spike. The bouncer tells her that Spike comes in a lot, always with a different girl on his arm.
Spike calls Buffy, telling her that he wants to meet her at a certain house, and gives her the address. "Spike" walks up and tells Spike that he did this a little too soon, but they can work around it.
Spike meets Buffy at the house and brings her down to the basement. He says he's done something terrible, and he remembers killing people, including the woman who lived in this house, and he buried everyone in the basement. "Spike" goads Spike along, and starts singing happy tune. Spike vamps out and attacks Buffy. Buffy throws him across the room, but then is attacked by rising vamps from the dirt floor of the basement. She fights the vamps, but there are too many of them and they grab her. "Spike" tells Spike that the other vamps are holding Buffy for him, and he should go taste her. Spike walks over and almost bites Buffy. Then he just licks a little blood from a cut on her arm. Suddenly he remembers everything in a flash, freaks out and goes and hides in a corner. Buffy fights off the other vamps, staking them all. "Spike" tells Spike that Buffy is going to kill him now. Buffy approaches Spike, and he bares his chest to her and asks her to make it fast. She won't kill him. She realizes he's seeing evil things that are messing with him, and she brings him home.
Buffy tells the rest of the gang that she's going to keep Spike nearby, because whatever has been messing with all of them has been messing with him the most, and she needs Spike to learn more about it.
Giles bursts through the same door in England calling for Robson. He finds dead Nora. He finds Robson, lying on the floor, almost dead. Robson whispers, "Gather them. It's started." Giles assures Robson he'll take care of it. A robed figure comes up behind Giles and begins to a swing a large blade down towards Giles's head. The episode ends.
